Matt Damon Seen Out With BFF Ben Affleck’s Ex Lindsay Shookus At SNL Power Dinner In NYC

Talk about awkward! Imagine if you’re best friend went to dinner with your ex-girlfriend. Well, that’s what happened when Matt Damon was seen with Ben Affleck’s ex, Lindsay Shookus, at Lattanzi restaurant in NYC on Dec. 11. Don’t worry, it didn’t look to be just the two of them, as it was a SNL dinner meeting. Matt is hosting the show this weekend, while Lindsay is one of the show’s producers.

Matt portrayed Brett Kavanaugh on SNL earlier this year, so clearly the two have run into each other quite a bit. They looked friendly, however, earlier this year, a source told In Touch that Matt thought Lindsay was “controlling and manipulative” in her relationship with Ben. Ouch!

Ultimately, the former couple couldn’t make it work and it became too hard on Lindsay to take care of Ben. “Lindsay had been supporting Ben’s sobriety and going to meetings with him. She had him in meditation and they were doing it together,” a source told People. “His recovery was something that was very important to both of them.”

“It was very hard for her to break up with Ben, but she knew he wasn’t getting better and that it was time for her to step aside,” the source continued. “She was trying to stay as close to him a possible so that he would stay on the right path, but ultimately it just wasn’t possible. She knew she had to let him hit bottom.”

However, the one person that has been by his side this whole time is his BFF, Matt. “I’ve known him for 35 years, and we grew up together,” the actor told Entertainment Tonight. “We were both in love with the same thing — acting and filmmaking. I think we fed on each other’s obsession during really formative, important years and that bonded us for life.”

Welp, hopefully it wasn’t too uncomfortable for Matt to be around Lindsay, but it sounds like The Martian actor has got Ben’s back no matter what!
