Machine Gun Kelly Has ‘Work to Do’ to Regain Megan Fox’s Trust After Split: ‘Maybe He’ll Change’

Machine Gun Kelly will have to put in the work if he wants to win back Megan Fox before their baby arrives, a source exclusively tells In Touch.

“Megan and MGK have officially split up, but some of their friends aren’t sure how long they’ll stay separated,” the insider says. “She loves MGK, but she feels that their relationship has run its course. She’s adamant about moving on, but as soon as their baby comes, MGK will be singing a different tune.”

The source continues, “Megan really tried to make it work, but she doesn’t fully trust him and that’s something she can’t reconcile with. Maybe he’ll change, the baby might be his wake-up call, but he has a lot of work to do to regain her trust.”

“She’s got a big heart and definitely wants him in the baby’s life,” the insider concludes. “Bottom line, don’t hold your breath that these two are done for good.”

Megan, 38, and MGK, 34, called it quits over Thanksgiving weekend in Vail, Colorado, TMZ reported on December 10. Sources told the outlet that the couple split after Megan found unspecified material on her partner’s phone. MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, reportedly decided to leave the vacation earlier than expected, and TMZ’s insiders said they haven’t seen each other since.

News of their breakup came one month after the Transformers star announced via Instagram that she and the rapper were expecting their first child.

“Nothing is ever really lost. Welcome back,” Megan captioned a carousel of maternity photos in which she posed nude while covered in a black substance. Her caption appeared to reference the miscarriage that she and MGK previously experienced.

Amid the split news, a source told Us Weekly that the on-off couple had already “broken up several times since the pregnancy was announced.”

“This was just one of the bigger ones that people have heard about,” the insider said on December 10. “Their relationship is so full of passion and that leads them to get back together over and over, but also to fight in the most toxic of ways. Their fights have gotten less intense now that MGK is sober, but they still have such a hard time having a stable relationship with each other.”

Meanwhile, a source told People on December 11 that the Jennifer’s Body actress was “blindsided” by their breakup.

“She’s been distraught,” the insider said, noting that Megan’s “priority” is to get ready for a healthy delivery of their child.

A source insisted to Us Weekly on Tuesday, December 17, that Megan “isn’t getting back together” with MGK and plans to “move on” after dealing with “huge trust issues between them.”

“This has happened many times before, but this time hurt even deeper because she is pregnant,” the insider shared. The source noted that although “things are not looking great between them right now,” MGK is “really letting Megan lead the way right now and is giving her space” in the hopes that they might at least have a coparenting relationship.

Megan — who also has three sons with ex-husband Brian Austin Green — and MGK first confirmed their romance in 2020 and got engaged in January 2022. The pair has sparked several split rumors over the years, making the exact status of their relationship unclear at times. Megan confirmed in May that she and the “My Bloody Valentine” singer did briefly call off their engagement, but she declined to comment on where their romance currently stood.

“I think that what I’ve learned from being in this relationship is that it’s not for public consumption,” she said on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “So, I think, as of now, I don’t have a comment on the status of the relationship, per se. What I can say is that [he] is what I refer to as being my ‘twin soul,’ and there will always be a tether to him, no matter what. I can’t say for sure what the capacity will be, but I will always be connected to him somehow. Beyond that, I’m not willing to explain.”
