RIP: Luke Perry Dies at 52 After Suffering ‘Massive’ Stroke

RIP. On Monday, March 4, Luke Perry died at the age of 52 after he suffered a “massive” stroke, In Touch confirmed. “He was surrounded by his children, Jack and Sophie, fianceé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder and other close family and friends,” Luke’s rep, Arnold Robinson, said in a statement. “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”

The L.A. Fire Department confirmed to In Touch on February 27 that they “responded to a 911 call at 9:30 a.m.” at the actor’s Sherman Oaks, California, house. Even though they couldn’t reveal the person’s identity, they noted that they were “transported in an ambulance to a nearby hospital.”

“Family members scrambled to the hospital and are by his side,” an insider told In Touch at the time. “He was fortunate that he wasn’t alone at his home and help arrived quickly.” The source added, “They are monitoring his vital signs. It’s too early to know if he will make a full recovery.”

Recently, his costar Shannen Doherty was hopeful that the 90210 alum was going to be just fine. “I will not talk about how he’s doing because it’s between the two of us, but I love him,” she tearfully told Us Weekly at an event in Culver City, California, on Sunday, March 3. “He’s going to be great.”

Many celebrities took to Twitter to mourn the Ohio native. “My heart is broken,” Molly Ringwald — who starred with Luke on Riverdale — wrote. “I will miss you so much, Luke Perry. Sending all my love to your family. #LukePerry.”
