Meri Brown is loving her single life now that she and ex-husband Kody Brown have gone their separate ways.

“My life has been an adventure, a winding road of unexpected twists, beautiful turns, and roads I never saw coming,” the Sister Wives star, 55, shared via Instagram in a life update on Wednesday, June 1. “I’ve lived, loved, and lost. I’ve laughed till my sides hurt, and learned that not everything that ends is a failure.”

Meri went on to add that just because her marriage “ended,” that doesn’t mean she “failed.”

“It doesn’t erase love that once existed or lessons I learned. It just means that chapter reached its end. It left behind wisdom and growth, teaching me how to love better, show up more authentically, and understand what I will and won’t accept in a relationship,” she wrote.

Meri also shared that she has since “[changed] direction” of her business, ended friendships and made new ones.

“Life isn’t about trying to avoid heartbreak or disappointment. It’s about saying yes,” she continued. “I say yes to loving deeply, because that’s just how I love. I say yes to taking chances because I never want to wonder, ‘What if?’ I say yes to laughing, simply because I can. I say yes to adventures that don’t go according to plan because, well, that’s what adventure is!”

Meri was Kody’s first wife. The pair legally tied the knot in 1990. Their first and only child, Leon, was born in 1995.

After welcoming second and third wives, Janelle and Christine Brown, into the family, Kody, 58, met Robyn Brown in 2009. In order to legally adopt Robyn’s children from her previous marriage, Kody divorced Meri and legally married Robyn in 2014.

Meri and Kody remained spiritually wed until their split in December 2022.

“I’ve loved with everything I had. I’ve grieved losses that brought me to my knees. I’ve found joy in unexpected places. I’ve laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe,” she shared on Wednesday. “Every experience has become part of this story I’m absolutely loving to live.”
