Jamie Lynn Spears Reflects on the 2-Year ‘Miracle’ Anniversary of Her Daughter’s Near-Fatal Accident

After becoming a mother as a teenager, Jamie Lynn Spears hasn’t had the easiest go of it. First, she found out she was pregnant in a gas station bathroom, and then had to not only tell her parents, but, as a child star, the whole world, too. With her hit Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101, coming to an end, she also had to contend with the (totally false) rumors that her pregnancy had ended the series. And then, when her older daughter, Maddie, was only 8 years old, she was involved in an ATV crash that was almost fatal. Now, two years after the accident, Jamie Lynn is thanking her lucky stars that everything has turned out OK.

In a post shared to her Instagram, the young mom honored the day, calling Tuesday, February 5, a “miracle anniversary.” The photo itself was a throwback to when Maddie, now 10, was in the hospital and Jamie Lynn, 27, was laying on the bed beside her. “We will [never] let this day pass without acknowledging the mercy God showed us and thanking each one of you who prayed for us during this time,” she wrote on the photo. “Again, thank y’all. God is so good.”

The accident happened when Maddie, driving ATVs with her mom and stepdad, crashed her vehicle and ended up trapped upside down in a pond. After five scary days in the hospital, she was finally given a clean bill of health. “The hardest milestone me and my family have ever faced was almost losing our beautiful Maddie,” mom Jamie Lynn wrote on Instagram in December 2017, sharing a photo of her daughter and the paramedics who helped save her. “But thanks to God and the two angels in this picture, we were able to celebrate Maddie turning 9 years old all together. This milestone became a true miracle, and we are forever grateful for that.”

Now, Maddie’s even become an older sister to Jamie Lynn’s younger daughter, Ivey, who the family welcomed in April 2018. The former Nickelodeon star doesn’t just have a miracle anniversary to celebrate, she’s also got a happy, healthy family to cherish.
