Ice-T Reveals Wife Coco Austin’s Father Is in the Hospital With COVID-19

Rapper Ice-T revealed Coco Austin’s dad, Steve Austin, was hospitalized for COVID-19 after becoming infected with the virus in Arizona. The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star tweeted out a photo of his father-in-law wearing a hospital gown with an oxygen mask covering his mouth and nose on Tuesday, June 30.

“Coco’s father checked into the hospital yesterday,” Ice-T, 62, wrote. “Covid in AZ.” The star hinted the situation was nothing to joke about as he clapped back at a fan who accused him of not sounding “too concerned” about his wife’s dad. “You don’t sound too smart,” he shot back.

Currently, cases are spiking in the state of Arizona. As of June 30, the Arizona Department of Health Services reported there have been nearly 80,000 confirmed cases of the disease in the state and over 1,600 deaths. June 22 marked the highest amount of new cases in a single day: 3,902.

Coco, 41, spent time with her father in Chandler, Arizona, as recently as Father’s Day. On June 21, she shared photos of herself, her dad and her siblings as they celebrated the holiday by barbecuing and having a movie marathon. “Father’s Day with my dad is always special!” she told fans on Twitter. “Nice day for BBQ and watching movies. LOVE YOU ALWAYS! (Last pic is all my dad’s kids, minus one brother, and Chanel snuck in, of course.)”

It seems like the model might be sticking around the state in the meantime. Though she and husband Ice-T have quarantined in a couple of different locations, she and one of her brothers, Danny Austin, headed out for dinner in Scottsdale, Arizona, on June 27. “My whole [family] lives in Arizona,” she told a fan who asked if the state was her current home base. “I’ve been coming back and forth for over 20 years.”

Whether or not Ice-T is in Arizona with his wife, it’s clear he’s ready to support the family however he can. On Twitter, he “liked” several messages of support from fans, and his and Coco’s love has only grown over the years.

“Now that Chanel’s involved, it really bonded us even in a better way,” Coco told In Touch in January. “We didn’t know we could get closer, but having Chanel made us even closer, if that even makes sense.”
