Fans of 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom OG know that Farrah Abraham was dealt a tough hand — when the father of her daughter, Sophia, Derek Underwood, was tragically killed in a car accident before their baby was born.
On Dec. 28, 2008, Derek’s life was tragically cut short while driving in Iowa when he lost control of the car. He was 18 at the time and so was the passenger who also did not survive that night.

The reality star has been open about the unthinkable tragedy and how it impacts not only her life but her daughter’s.
“The 28th comes up every year for me — and I went through depression and a hard time and Sophia, as a child, has gone through her own [struggle, asking], ‘What happened to my dad?’ And having her own loss,” she exclusively told In Touch back in December.
And our hearts broke while watching an episode of the MTV reality series when the mother-daughter duo took a trip to the cemetery and Sophia shared some harsh wishes about seeing her father.

“I want a daddy! I want a daddy now! Daddy! Daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy! I want to die,” she yelled.
At this point Farrah was crying and explained, “When you say you want to die to see him, it really makes mommy sad. Do you know that it hurts mommy when you say those things because I care about you, and I love you?”
