New details are emerging about the heartbreaking death of Todd Meadows, as his bunkmate is now speaking out about the night the 25-year-old deckhand fell overboard.
According to Us Weekly, Trey John Green III — who shared a cabin with Meadows aboard the The Aleutian Lady — recalled the tragic incident that occurred Wednesday, February 25, while crabbing off the Alaskan coast.
“Todd was an amazing human,” Green told the outlet, explaining that the crew “did everything we could to save him” after he went overboard. He noted that trying to rescue someone “out at sea” is “no easy task.”
Green also confirmed that the accident was captured on camera during filming for Season 22 of Deadliest Catch.

“It was filmed, unfortunately,” he said, adding that a deck camera that records “24-7” also captured the incident.
In a March 2 Facebook post, Captain Rick Shelford called Meadows’ death “the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady,” while the U.S. Coast Guard continues to investigate the marine casualty.
Green also told Us Weekly that the crew is heading home briefly to mourn before returning to finish the season.
