Fans were stunned to learn that Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington died by hanging at age 41 this week — and before that, he made some chilling comments in what is believed to be his final interview.

Chester, who is survived by a wife of 12 years, Talinda Ann Bentley, and six kids — Lila, Tyler, Isaiah, Jaime, Lily, and Draven — opened up to Will Lavin about his internal struggle. Fans of the rock band know that Chester battled with drug and alcohol abuse over the years, and spoke out in the past about wanting to commit suicide after being abused by an adult male as a kid.

“I came to a point in my life where I was like, ‘I can either just give up and f–king die or I can f–king fight for what I want.’ And I chose to fight for what I wanted. I wanted to have good relationships. I wanted to love the people in my life. I wanted to enjoy my job," he confessed via Mirror. "I wanted to enjoy being a dad and having friends and just getting up in the morning. Because that was a struggle for me."

According to TMZ, the "Breaking the Habit" singer was found dead by an employee at a private Palos Verdes Estates residence on Thursday — which would have been his late pal Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday. He also died by hanging back in May.

Chester's family was allegedly out of town at the time. Before Talinda — who he spent a vacation with before his untimely passing — the musician was married to Samantha Marie Olit from 1996-2005. Fellow Linkin Park rocker Mike Shinoda was just one of many to pay tribute to the late star.

"Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one," he wrote on Twitter.

Our thoughts are with Chester's family, friends, fans, and band mates in the wake of this unthinkable tragedy.
