Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have officially reached a settlement in their divorce more than eight years after they called it quits, In Touch can confirm.
The former couple signed off on their divorce on Monday, December 30, according to legal documents filed in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles and viewed by In Touch.
Shortly after the paperwork was filed, Angelina’s lawyers issued a statement about the dissolution of their marriage.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” lawyer James Simon told People in a statement. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
Brad, 61, and Angelina, 49, wed in 2014, and she filed for divorce just two years later in September 2016. The filing came shortly after she accused the Ocean’s Eleven star of being abusive towards their six children following an alleged incident on a plane. Brad was never charged by authorities after an investigation was launched into the incident, and Angelina never pressed charges.
The pair share kids Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.
In addition to battling over custody, the pair – who were both declared legally single in 2019 – have also made headlines regarding their legal issues surrounding their $164 million French estate and winery, Château Miraval.
Following their split, the children seemingly sided with Angelina and have distanced themselves from Brad. However, sources have said that he wants to be part of his children’s lives.

“It was very hard for Brad to see photos of Knox with Angelina on the red carpet because he hardly gets to see him,” a source exclusively told In Touch on December 6, referencing Angelina and Knox’s recent red carpet appearance at the the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 15th Annual Governors Awards in November. “He’s proud of Knox and has no issue with him getting out there and making a name for himself but he can’t help but feel it’s all very calculated by Angelina to mess with him.”
While the source said that Brad is “pretty much used” to his estrangement from his children, it’s believed that the entire citation is “upsetting” for him.
“Every year she pulls some sort of stunt around the holidays that’s so obviously aimed at hurting him,” the source claimed. “Whether it’s taking the kids far away for a trip over the holidays to make it next to impossible for him to see them or filing something with the courts to throw a wrench into things.”
An additional insider exclusively told In Touch that Angelina is determined to help her kids, including when it comes to their careers. “Angelina’s very aware of the potential her kids have, she has no doubt they’re going to do great things,” the source shared. “That being said, she’s never pushed them into anything, the last thing she wants is to see them flounder or be forced to do something they’re not passionate about, but she is carefully guiding their careers and setting them up, step by step.”
