Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie Are Still ‘Good Friends’ After Their Split

Friendly exes! It’s been 16 years since Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie got divorced, but even after all this time, the former Hollywood couple still keeps in touch. At the Tribeca TV Festival’s presentation of Goliath on Friday, September 13, Billy Bob opened up about his relationship with his former flame.

“We’re good friends. We’ve been friends for years and years and years,” the 64-year-old actor told Us Weekly. “So we keep up with each other. She’s not in town a lot, so we don’t see each other much, but we talk.”

Billy Bob and Angelina, 44, met in 1999 on the set of their film Pushing Tin. They were only dating for two months when they tied the knot in 2000. But their marriage didn’t last very long, and they got divorced in 2003 — just one year after they made a joint announcement that they adopted a baby boy from Cambodia, Maddox.

“I never felt good enough for her,” Billy Bob said, reflecting on their relationship in a 2016 interview with GQ. He mentioned that he would rather sit and watch baseball while Angelina was doing work with the U.N., the president or adoption agencies. It also didn’t help that Angie was always being invited to A-lister’s homes, which made Billy said made him feel uncomfortable.

After their split, Angelina raised Maddox as a single mom until she met her third husband, Brad Pitt, in 2004 on the set of their 2005 film, Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Brad later adopted Maddox in 2006, and they also share Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11. Brad and Angelina were together for more than a decade and finally tied the knot in 2014. But in 2016, after two years of marriage, they decided to call it quits.

Meanwhile, Billy Bob went on to marry Connie Angland in a secret ceremony in October 2014. The couple shares a 14-year-old daughter named Bella, and Billy is also a father to Amanda Brumfield, 40, William Langston Thornton, 26, and Harry James Thornton, 25, from previous relationships.
