The Crazy Conspiracy Theory That Beyoncé Kidnapped Sia Still Lives on Today

Y'all, there are currently people walking around on this Earth, just like you and me, that truly believe that Queen Beyoncé kidnapped Sia, locked her in a dungeon, and forced her to write music for her like some kind of platinum hit farm. This crazy conspiracy theory began in Brazil in 2016, but somehow it stuck and made it's way around the world and still persists today.

"I heard on the internet that @Beyoncé keeps @Sia hostage in her basement," wrote a fan on Feb. 28. "@Beyoncé any comments on this? I'm not totally sold on the hostage thing. I'd be totally blessed to be kidnapped by @Beyonce." Clearly people are still talking about this even two years after it started, but how did it start in the first place?

The origins aren't totally clear, but perhaps it branched from a 2015 Billboard interview with Sia. Sia said that working with Bey was, "like a writing camp." She made it sound like Beyoncé was a bit controlling, and used up several of the songs she had written at once. "She's very Frankenstein when she comes to the songs. In the end, she had maybe 25 songs of mine on hold, and I was very excited to get a couple of them back. Definitely one is on the album."

One year later was when the conspiracy theory really took hold on Twitter, with fans demanding that Beyoncé "let Sia go." They started pouring over Sia's tweets, including one that simply said "Hope Everyone Like Pancakes," which fans took to be code for "HELP." Here are some more wild tweets regarding the fan theory:

Bey and Sia have worked together on songs like "Pretty Hurts," but we highly doubt Bey would need to resort to holding her captive. At least… we hope.
