Angelina Jolie Is ‘Trying to Heal the Rift’ Between Her Ex and Her Son After Maddox Shaded Brad Pitt

Calling a truce? It’s no secret that Angelina Jolie’s oldest son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, isn’t on the best terms with his father, Brad Pitt. Now, the actress is playing mediator between the two. “Brad has talked to Angelina about visiting Maddox in Seoul. Angelina has been trying to heal the rift between father and son,” an insider told Us Weekly.

The 55-year-old handsome hunk wasn’t sure if the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil star, 44, was going to make a “concerted effort” to bring the two back together or not, the source added. However, it doesn’t seem like the college freshman is on board with a reunion. “Maddox hasn’t been receptive,” they explained. Ultimately, Brad is hoping for the best. “Brad remains upbeat that Maddox will reach out.”

In August, the brunette beauty — who shares six kids with Brad: Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13 and twins Vivienne and Knox, both 11 — dropped off her son at Yonsei University in South Korea. “Maddox is leaving the tight-knit family nest and while there have been some tears, he’s super excited about starting this new journey,” a source exclusively told In Touch. “He told his siblings that they have to listen to Pax now, which they all laughed at. Pax probably took it the hardest, but he’s tough and doesn’t cry, all the other kids got teary-eyed. They’re all going to miss their oldest brother, who’s always been kind and a very calming presence, even when he was little.”

But there was one person noticeably missing from the Asia trip: Brad. In a video exclusively obtained by In Touch, a cameraman asked Maddox if his famous father would be visiting him on campus. “Um, I don’t know about that … what’s happening,” he said. “Whatever happens, happens.”

After the comments were made, the Oklahoma native jetted to Japan where he promoted his latest film, Ad Astra, and he seemed like he was in a great mood. Brad and Maddox have had a rocky relationship ever since the Fight Club alum got into an alleged altercation with him on a private plane in 2016 — right before Brad and Angie called it quits after 11 years together. There were rumors swirling that Brad was drinking too much at the time, but he was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing.

Here’s to hoping a sweet reconciliation between Brad and Maddox is in the works.
