Amber Rose Reveals She Was ‘Too Pretty’ To Sell Crack
She’s not holding back! Amber Rose didn’t have the most conventional childhood, as she revealed that she once tried to sell drugs in order to support her family, on Van Lathan’s The Red Pill podcast.
“I usually don’t tell people this, but I tried selling crack in my neighborhood,” the blonde beauty, 35, admitted. She luckily didn’t end up being a drug dealer for a very specific reason. “They said I was going to get robbed, but I was a girl and I was too pretty, and it wasn’t going to happen.”
Unfortunately, the activist was not done with drugs just yet, as she would “bag and weigh the crack rocks for them and they would throw me some money.” The reason she had to dabble in this scene was because her mother was clinically depressed, so Amber was the “queen of the house.” She added, “I needed to do what I needed to do to survive.”
Amber has always been honest about her past, as many of her fans know that she used to be a stripper. “It was a hard time in the beginning,” she said. “I became a stripper very young and I made that decision. Nobody in my family put that on me. I don’t really think people understand how hood I grew up. I don’t think they understand really where I am from, the s—t I had to overcome and even overcame after I became famous.”
Even though she is a public figure now, she admitted that growing up as an only child was not all rainbows and butterflies, since most of her family passed away from overdoses. “My life has not been easy,” she spilled. “This is the time to just let people know, it did push me to that limit, to go and fend for my family based off of things that happened before I was born.”

However, Amber came out on top and realized she actually enjoyed stripping. “It’s like, yeah I did what I had to do. After a while, I did enjoy it because I had a lot friends and it was like, I get to dance to my favorite song that is out right now, I get to get pretty and get my hair done and do my makeup. It’s like a party every night. It was fun.”
