90 Day Fiance’s Ashley and Jay Reveal They ‘Ripped Divorce Papers Up’: ‘We’re Stronger Than Ever’
It’s official! 90 Day Fiancé couple Ashley Smith (née Martson) and her husband, Jay Smith, are back together. The TLC stars announced they have called off their divorce — for the second time — in an update shared via their new YouTube channel on Thursday, March 26.
“I feel like if you have trouble in your marriage or relationship and you choose to try it again, you have to tell yourself before you get back into that relationship ‘the past is the past’ and you chose to forgive what they did,” Ashley, 33, explained, revealing she’s ready to move forward with Jay, 22, by her side.
The feelings are mutual as Jay said he does see himself with Ashley “forever” and wants to continue fighting though their issues as a “team.” He revealed they both love each other and are going about things “differently” now.
“We are stronger than ever, this time it’s not gonna go like last time, we’re going to stay together,” the Jamaica native vowed. “This has to work.”
While confirming they are not going to legally split after all, Jay admitted they “ripped all [of their] divorce papers up” and tossed them out.
The TV personality said the biggest lesson he learned from cheating on Ashley is that it “makes no sense running around when you can build an empire.”
Ashley filed for divorce from Jay for the second time in April 2019, shortly before they appeared on season 4 of the spinoff 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?
Fans began speculating the dynamic duo had reconciled their romance after seeing their flirty TikTok videos together on March 18. “Damn, maybe this quarantine isn’t so bad after all,” the blonde beauty captioned her clip doing the Flip the Switch challenge. Jay’s video also showed Ashley making a surprise cameo, before he kisses her on the cheek.
“She’s my first wife, so I’m still going to have that soft spot in my heart for her no matter what,” Jay previously told In Touch.
Looking ahead, the tattoo artist said he’s not opposed to doing another reality show with his longtime love.
