Prince Williamis a vocal supporter of the U.K.-based club Aston Villa. In May, he traveled to Istanbul, Turkey, to watch the team win the Europa League, securing their first European trophy since 1982. The Prince of Wales, 43, described the win as “surreal” while in the stands, per a video from The Claret & Blue Podcast.
Back in 2015, William spoke to the BBC about the origin story of how he became an Aston Villa fan.
“A long time ago at school, I got into football big time. I was looking around for clubs. All my friends at school were either Manchester United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams,” he told the outlet. “I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments.”

Shakira has a long history with soccer, and specifically the World Cup as she sang at the closing ceremony in 2006, released her first official World Cup song, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and delivered an epic performance at the closing ceremony in Brazil in 2014.
This year, the superstar, 47 — who shares sons Milan, 13, and Sasha, 11, with ex-partner and retired soccer player Gerard Piqué — will be co-hosting the first-ever halftime show at the tournament and has released her second official World Cup song, “Dai Dai” with Burna Boy.
“I have this connection with [soccer] that seems unbreakable,” she told People in an interview published on Wednesday, June 3.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are proud co-owners of Welsh football club Wrexham A.F.C. The two actors — who took over the club in 2021 — also occasionally appear in Welcome to Wrexham, the hit FX docuseries centered around the team.
“I know I’m a football fan and a Wrexham lifer because I’m inconsolable when we lose,” the Deadpool & Wolverine star, 49, told The Athletic in an interview published in February. “I’ve never been as invested in winning and losing before. I have to fly across the Atlantic when still awake and sober (after a match) and try to process that whole loss. That’s a flight, seven hours long, and for some reason it takes 29 hours.”

Besides being a soccer fan, Will Ferrellis also the co-owner of the Los Angeles Football Club. The two-time Golden Globe Award winner will also be playing an exciting part in the 2026 World Cup.
“As a lifelong soccer fan and proud Angeleno, I’m thrilled to serve as an official Community Ambassador for the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026,” the comedian, 58, announced in March, per ESPN. “I’m here to support the Host Committee’s efforts and cheer loudly for the countries playing in the tournament. I promise not to jump in as goalkeeper … unless [it’s] absolutely necessary. Let’s make this tournament unforgettable for Los Angeles!”
