Gym, tan, laundry… jail. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino surrendered to the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, NY, on Tuesday, Jan. 15, to begin his 8-month prison sentence for tax fraud. Prior to his surrendering, the Jersey Shore star took to his Instagram Story to confirm the facility he would be calling home throughout most of 2019. He also added how you can send him some words of encouragement.
“For family, friends & fans Mailing Address for letters only,” he wrote, before adding, “Michael Sorrentino #66910-050 Otisville FCI Federal Correctional Institution Satellite Camp PO Box 1000 Otisville, NY 10963.”

The newlywed, 36, who married his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce, on Nov. 1, pled guilty to one count of tax evasion last January. “What the defendants admitted to today, quite simply, is tantamount to stealing money from their fellow taxpayers,” U.S. Attorney Carpenito said in a press release at the time. “All of us are required by law to pay our fair share of taxes. Celebrity status does not provide a free pass from this obligation.”
Prior to Mike’s sentencing, his co-star, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, 31, went on Jenny McCarthy‘s SiriusXM Show, The Jenny McCarthy Show, where she revealed that the entire cast was “freaking out for him.”
But according to Lauren, he’s the “strongest man I know.” The 34-year-old wrote the sweet note in the comments on his Instagram today, along with, “Love you honeys, see you soon.” Aww.
So how is the reality TV star going to spend his time in the slammer? According to cast friend Joey Camasta, he’ll be writing… a lot. “He is actually writing a book when he is away,” Joey explained, while he co-hosted the popular YouTube show The Morning Toast on Jan. 10. “He’s going to write his journal. He is going to live his life, live his truth.”
The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed to Radar Online that Mike has checked in and is in their custody.
