Twitter Was Not Here for Sarah Hyland’s Teen Choice Awards Performance: ‘She Was Way Off-Key’

Awkward! After Sarah Hyland joined Jordan McGraw at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, August 11, to perform their new song “Met at a Party,” many users took to Twitter to reveal how they really felt about the brunette beauty’s voice.

One person wrote, “Wait, Sarah Hyland from Modern Family can sing? Well, trying to,” while another echoed, “What is Sarah Hyland DOING UP THERE? GET HER DOWN RIGHT NOW.” A third chimed in, writing, “Sarah Hyland is singing now? She was way off-key.”

However, fellow music industry stars and other fans couldn’t help but show some love for the actress on social media. “Our guy @JordanMcGraw and the amazing @Sarah_Hyland just killed it on the #TeenChoice awards with #MetAtAParty. See you guys soon,” the Jonas Brothers gushed. “OMG! Sarah Hyland got those pipes,” one fan wrote, while a second user added, “Girl can sing!”

Earlier in the day, Sarah joked about having a little stage fright. “I’m not terrified to perform with in-ears for the first time ever at the [Teen Choice Awards] … you are,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories. She also showed a photo of herself tripping at the event from a years ago. “#Throwback to four years ago at the [TCAS],” she wrote. “Fingers crossed it doesn’t happen again today.” But it seemed like the Hollywood starlet had no incidents this year since she stepped out on the red carpet showing her fantastic abs, and she looked amazing.

Sarah and Jordan dropped their new song a few days before the awards show on Friday, August 9. “We met in a recording studio to a sing a song about meeting someone at a party,” the New York native previously tweeted. “#METATAPARTY IS OUT NOW!!!!” Even though Sarah is known for her acting than her singing, she has previously collaborated with popular artists including BoTalks and Boyce Avenue.
