‘The View’ Cohosts ‘Mad’ as ABC Talk Show Keeps ‘Downsizing’ and Cutting Costs

The View has reportedly had to cut costs.

The long-running ABC talk show, which is currently in its 29th season, keeps “downsizing and downsizing and downsizing,” a source told Page Six‘s industry vertical, Page Six Hollywood, in an article published Wednesday, July 22.

According to the source, all of the hosts on the panel — which currently includes Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin — have taken pay cuts since its current season kicked off in September of last year.

Goldberg, 70, who acts as the talk show’s moderator, is reportedly the highest-paid person on the panel at a mid-seven-figure salary.

However, Farah Griffin, 37 — who was on maternity leave earlier this year for two months following the birth of her first son with husband Justin Griffin — is allegedly making in the mid-six-figure range and was reportedly denied a raise.

The cuts are also affecting the wardrobe budget, with the source claiming the panelists are “all mad because they were all wearing really expensive designer clothes.”

Now, the source added that “it’s the same budget of a Wendy Williams-type show versus a marquee daytime show.”

Page Six also reported that there won’t be a Halloween episode this year as part of the upcoming season.

“There are definitely tensions with ABC,” the source said.

The View was created in 1997 by late journalist Barbara Walters, who retired from being a full-time cohost in May 2014.
