“I feel like American men have been treated like second-class citizens,” she tells one pair of hosts.
“In the past, men used to be hunters and gatherers and protectors. Now, they’re being forced to walk around on their tippy toes. It’s not natural!”
In another interview, she declares that “men should be free, they should be able to speak their mind, voice their desires.”
The moment that generated the most reaction came when an off-camera podcaster sized up her public image.
“You sound like a Democrat,” the voice says. Cassie laughs and fires back with an ableist slur: “I’m not r******d.”
In the episode, her manager, Maddy, later offers a sharp take on the whole situation. “You know what’s funny?” she asks Cassie. “The angrier these idiots get, the more money you make.”
Some conservative social media accounts celebrated it. Others read it as meta commentary on Sweeney’s own real-life controversies, including backlash over a 2025 American Eagle denim campaign.
One user on X wrote: “You just know Sydney Sweeney had the time of her life saying that line out loud. #Euphoria.”
Another comment on X read: “Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney in Euphoria, shuts down the idea she’s a Democrat with one blunt line…. Has Hollywood finally woken up?”

When asked about being nicknamed “MAGA Barbie” by social media users, the actress told Cosmopolitan exactly where she stands.
“I’ve never been here to talk about politics,” she said in an interview with the magazine published in January.

“I’ve always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of,” she continued. “And I think because of that, people want to take it even further and use me as their own pawn. But it’s somebody else assigning something to me, and I can’t control that.”
