Sophie Turner Slams Twat Piers Morgan Over Comments On Mental Health

She is NOT happy! Sophie Turner slammed TV personality Piers Morgan over some recent comments he made about mental health, and we are here for it. Don’t mess with Sansa Stark!

On Wednesday, Jan. 9, Piers retweeted something said by Beverley Callard — an English actress — about “mental health problems.” She seemed to claim celebrities are trying to make them “fashionable.” He also added his own note: “She’ll be hammered for saying this, but it’s 100% true.” To be fair, Beverley’s overall comments were a little more complex than that. “Real mental illness is very dark and it takes a great deal of strength to ask for help. I think we are now definitely chipping away at the stigma. But we have to be careful mental illness doesn’t become like a Gucci handbag. There is a danger it can become ‘fashionable.'”

After Piers, 53, added his “100% true” comment, Sophie, 22, retweeted him and wrote, “Or maybe they have a platform to speak out about it and help get rid of the stigma of mental illness which affects 1 in 4 people in [the] UK per year. But please go ahead and shun them back into silence. Twat.” Eek.

In what was likely a sarcastic response, Piers then retweeted Sophie and wrote, “Hi Sophie, please don’t abuse me like this – it’s harmful to my mental health. Thanks.” And when someone asked him if he wanted “to identify for us which celebs are faking mental health problems and say it to their faces on GMB? Perhaps @TheRock?,” Piers responded again, “Sadly, I know a lot of well-known people (not The Rock) who’ve jumped on the ‘victimhood’ bandwagon to get positive publicity for themselves. They do those with genuine mental illness a great disservice.”

Still following along? Good, because Sophie wasn’t done yet. In a series of tweets she shared that same day, the Game of Thrones actress wrote, “Part 1: People who think it’s okay to make jokes about mental illness, I feel you must be lucky, because surely you don’t understand or can’t comprehend what it is like to have or know someone with an illness like this. Part 2: Depression is the second biggest killer in affluent Europe and America. One of the greatest reasons being, I believe, is because mental illness has so much stigma surrounding it.”

But she still wasn’t done! Sophie also added, “Part 3. If we can just all speak out about our experiences or our loved one’s experiences we can help other people who suffer with mental illness not feel so alone. Let’s keep this dialogue going,” and, “Part 4. You are not alone, you can manage your illness, and people who make fun of it are the minority… not you. You are loved and supported.” She didn’t tag Piers in the tweets, but it’s pretty clear who the message was for.

Piers continued to go on and on about the conversation and topic on Twitter because he doesn’t seem to be able to help himself when it comes to stirring up controversy there. But Sophie didn’t, and doesn’t really need to — we think she already made her point just fine.
