Rob Reiner‘s son, Jake Reiner, is finding the courage to step back into the spotlight.
Jake, 35, made his first public appearance on Tuesday, June 24, attending the Los Angeles premiere of the HBO Original series Life, Larry and The Pursuit of Unhappiness at the Hollywood Legion Theater. He is also part of the cast, appearing in one of the sketches in the series premiere, airing this Friday.
The outing marked his first red carpet appearance since his parents’ deaths, and he was there to support Larry David, one of his late father’s close friends.
For the occasion, Jake kept his look simple and relaxed, pairing a black blazer with a soft gray crewneck sweater instead of a button-down or tie.

The appearance comes just weeks after Jake also returned to cohosting his Los Angeles Dodgers podcast, The Incline: Dodgers Podcast — more than four months after his parents were found dead in their Brentwood home in December.
Jake has also turned to writing to process his grief, penning a lengthy Substack essay on April 24 where he opened up about his parents’ tragic deaths and the aftermath, in which his brother, Nick, was arrested for their murders.

He wrote that sharing his story was “to offer some insight. Not only to what I lost but also to celebrate what my parents meant to me.”
Sharing the heartbreaking reality, he added, “We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable.”

“Sure, any loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the centre of it,” he continued.
Jake’s parents, Rob, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found dead inside their Brentwood home on December 14, 2025, discovered by their daughter, Romy, as reported by Variety.

As per a CBS report, the Los Angeles County medical examiner ruled they died from “multiple sharp force injuries.”
Jake’s brother, Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested that same day and has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges in connection with their deaths. People reported that he remains jailed without bail at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles, where he has waived his right to a speedy trial.
The case saw another development on June 8, when he petitioned a California court for funds from a trust established in his name, according to the outlet.
