Rob Kardashian Hasn’t Had ‘Good Luck in the Love Department,’ He Can’t ‘Begin to Trust Anyone’

Rob Kardashian hasn’t had a steady girlfriend since splitting from baby mama Blac Chyna in 2017 and a source exclusively tells In Touch that he’s scared stiff to trust his heart again – even though friends and family keep trying to help change his mind.

“Rob has not had good luck in the love department. It’s not just Chyna, though she did do a real number on him,” an insider tells In Touch about the former reality star. “The sad truth is he’s got a pattern of getting his heart broken. It’s no wonder he’s been in protection mode for so long. He doesn’t like to let any woman get too close.”

While the source insists that Rob, 38, is “not some monk” and “there are plenty of women around, he just keeps them all at arm’s length because he doesn’t want to get hurt.”

“It’s really sad because back in the day Rob was such a sweetheart. He was all about having a girlfriend and was so devoted,” the insider continues. “But he’s been betrayed so many times, he just can’t seem to begin to trust anyone.”

Meanwhile, the source says that his “self-image isn’t good either, so he’s got a lot of fears about rejection.”

“He doesn’t even want to risk it. Ironically Khloé [Kardashian] is the one that nags him the most about all this, when she’s basically in the same boat,” the insider notes of his older sister, who has been single since her split from ex Tristan Thompson in 2021.

Rob and Chyna, 37, were first romantically linked in January 2016, and they got engaged in April of that year. One month later, they revealed Chyna was pregnant with their first child together. Chyna gave birth to their daughter, Dream, in November 2016. The pair went on to experience many ups and downs in their relationship before they called off their wedding in February 2017.

Following their public drama and breakup, Rob began to live a more private life and stopped appearing on his family’s show Keeping Up With the Kardashians. While their E! show ended in 2021, Rob continued to remain out of the spotlight and he opted to not appear on his family’s Hulu show, The Kardashians, when it premiered in April 2022.

In light of his private life, In Touch previously reported that Rob keeps busy by spending time with Dream and hanging out with his close friends, including Khloé, 40.

“Rob lives for his little girl, Dream,” an additional source dished to In Touch in December 2024. “She’s the absolute center of his world, and he spends most of his time with her either at his house or over at Khloé’s.”

The insider added that Rob is “terrified of being out in public and getting recognized or photographed” after facing years of scrutiny from the public.

While fans shouldn’t expect to hear anything from Rob in the near future, their family’s fans can always rely on Khloé to share insight into his life. “I love all my siblings, but I think with Rob, I identify with him so much. I feel so deeply what he feels — the struggles that he has, or just wanting to be out of the public eye, or just feeling like he doesn’t fit in or is being judged about his appearance,” she told Bustle during an October 4, 2024, interview.
