Prince Harry is walking away from his meeting with King Charles III filled with cautious optimism about the future, per a source, who says he’s imploring Meghan Markle to follow his lead and abide by his father’s orders in order to build on the relationship.
On July 10, Buckingham Palace confirmed Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla hosted Harry, 41, Meghan, 44, and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, at Highgrove House, describing the long-awaited reunion as a “private family occasion,” according to the BBC.
“Harry’s biggest concern is that nothing derails the progress they’ve made. He doesn’t want anything that could put a spanner in the works, so there can’t be any leaks or any demands.” the source exclusively reveals to In Touch. “He’s told Meghan they’ve got to swallow their pride, follow all directions from Charles and his aides, and prove they can be trusted.”

The Sussexes don’t really have another option, the source notes.
“As much as they don’t want to accept it, their only choice is to abide by the king’s terms if they want any hope of rebuilding the relationship,” says the source. “Harry’s telling Meghan that they have to take several steps back and stop playing hardball because this opportunity may never come again and he knows they simply can’t afford to get this wrong.”
As In Touch previously reported, a source says Harry kept reminding Meghan that their trip to the U.K. wasn’t about settling old scores but rebuilding bridges.
“Staying quiet and just toeing the line really isn’t in her nature, but she’s reluctantly accepted that’s what has to happen, at least for now,” shares the source. “She knows how much this means to Harry and she also sees it’s important for the children and for their future prospects.”
