A BBC report published on Wednesday, July 29, revealed four women came forward in the network’s investigative documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret — released the same day — alleging they were sexually assaulted when they were teenagers.
Per the report, one woman alleged she was just 17 years old when Leto assaulted her in a motel bathroom. A second woman who has come forward claimed the star threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19 and was left alone in a hotel room with him.
A third woman claimed she had underage sex with the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman in California. She alleged she was 17 years old at the time. She also alleged Leto “shrugged off” a conversation about the age of consent being 18 in the United States.
The fourth woman also accused Leto of grooming her through explicit phone calls when she was 16. He also allegedly suggested on at least one occasion that they should have intercourse, per the report. Leto is accused of sending the fourth woman a non-disclosure agreement which would prevent her from speaking about the actor. She refused to sign it.
Four additional women told the network they received “strange” and “very sexual” phone calls from Leto when they were younger, according to the report.

A total of 10 women speak in the documentary about Leto’s alleged behavior. One woman claimed Leto instructed a security guard to take her backstage at a music festival when she was 14 after he remarked about her chest during an autograph signing.
The allegations reportedly took place between 2002 and 2016, when the Dallas Buyers Club star would have been in his 30s and 40s.
Two male staffers who worked with Leto’s band also reveal in the documentary that staff felt uncomfortable about Leto’s interactions with teenage girls, the BBC claimed.
Despite the allegations, no charges have been filed against Leto. On Wednesday, Leto denied the allegations in a statement to In Touch, stating: “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
Leto won an Oscar for his acting in Dallas Buyers Club and has also appeared in Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049 and Suicide Squad.
