Matthew Perry Looks Exhausted in Sleeping Mask as Friend Helps Him Out of a Car

Going through it. Matthew Perry was spotted looking exhausted as a friend helped him out of a car on Friday, May 29. The former Friends star appeared more than a little worse for wear as he wore both a face mask over his mouth and a sleeping mask on top of his head.

It seems Matt, 50, has had a tough month. In early May, In Touch exclusively revealed his split from girlfriend Molly Hurwitz after two years of dating. Though the breakup was “very amicable,” the couple decided to go their separate ways only a few months after their first public outing. An insider close to the talent manager noted she’s “been his rock in recent months” and was a “good influence” on him.

However, it seems the relationship was weighing on Molly, 29, and ultimately she needed to take a step back. “Molly was good for him and you have to hand it to her for hanging in there so long, but you can only help someone so much,” a second source told In Touch. “At the end of the day, only Matt can help himself. He is in a really dark place and pals fear he may have relapsed. … He’s spiraling — that’s why he and Molly broke up.”

Just days before the news of his split broke, the Odd Couple actor was seen looking glum and disheveled as he stepped out in Los Angeles with a friend. A few weeks later, he met up with family for a little social distancing support, but he seemed equally down as he stepped out for a smoke break with another pal halfway through the month. On May 18, he also hinted he was dealing with some scary medical issues.

“Emergency dental surgery at 6 p.m. Now that’s what I call a hat on a hat,” he wrote on Twitter. In the following days, he stayed off the social media site and didn’t reveal exactly what was wrong — or how his recovery was going. His Instagram activity also didn’t clue fans in to how the Good Wife star was doing beyond hinting that he was likely recovering at his Malibu home, which he’d expressed gratitude for multiple times throughout the coronavirus quarantine. Now, it seems he’s at least got friends by his side helping take care of him.
