Alaskan Bush People’s Matt Brown Wants Back on the Show, but Dad Billy Thinks He’s a ‘Liability’

A few months after Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown peaced out of the bush to head for California, reports are saying he wants back in on his family’s show. A source closed to the family spilled the tea to Radar Online, revealing on Friday, July 26, that the oldest kid on the Brown family tree has been “begging” his parents to allow him back on the Discovery Channel show. But after all of his rehab drama, they’re not so sure about that move. Apparently, dad Billy Brown is concerned that his son is too much of a “liability.”

“Matt has taken a complete 180 in regards to not wanting anything to do with his famous family,” the source said about the 36-year-old star. “Matt has been living in California ever since with his mysterious girlfriend and he’s been making YouTube videos. … But YouTube videos do not pay his rent.” The source seemed to imply that now that his cash is running low, he wants back in on that reality TV paycheck.

The question remains about whether or not his parents will let him rejoin the wolf pack. The 66-year-old father and 55-year-old Ami Brown had previously told their son that he could start filming again once he finished rehab, but now they’re not sure where they stand on the issue. “Billy has considered letting his son back on the show, but he sees him as a possible liability,” the source said. “Ami really wants her son back in her life and, at this point, Billy doesn’t really know what to do.”

The star hasn’t shown a lot of good will with his family lately. Back in June, it was revealed that he’d skipped his brother’s wedding. When Gabe Brown and his new wife, Raquell “Rose” Pantilla, tied the knot for a second time on June 14, Matt was nowhere to be found. However, he did send love to the family. Just a few days before the ceremony, he took to Instagram to wish his brother Bear Brown a happy birthday. A few days after, he recorded a Father’s Day message for Billy. Whether or not those small gestures will be enough to mend their relationship remains to be seen, but Radar has confirmed it wasn’t enough to get him on the next season of the show.
