Lori Loughlin’s Daughter Olivia Jade Said Her Father ‘Faked His Way’ Through College Days Before Scandal

Hold up, what? It turns out that Lori Loughlin‘s daughter Olivia Jade may not have been the only member of the family allegedly “faking” their way through college. According to the YouTube star herself, her dad, Mossimo Giannulli, wasn’t all that serious about his studies either. In fact, she revealed that he didn’t actually go to college at all — and, ironically enough, she admitted it in an interview just days before the scandal broke and both of her parents were indicted for fraud. While appearing on the Zach Sang Show in an episode that dropped March 8, the 19-year-old shared a few choice quotes about her dad’s education.

“He wasn’t actually, like, ever — I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this, sorry, Dad! But he wasn’t ever, like, ‘enrolled’ in college, but he, like, faked his way through it,” she revealed in the video. “He started his whole business with tuition money that his parents thought [was] going to college. … It’s a cool story. … He was a baller.”

Though she told the story in the context of praising her dad for how he created his business all by himself, it’s a pretty revealing anecdote. According to the court documents obtained by In Touch, both Lori and Mossimo allegedly “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters [20-year-old daughter Isabella and 19-year-old daughter Olivia] designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.”

Paying extra money to get into college isn’t exactly the same as using your tuition money to skip college and start a company instead, but they both show a certain … creativity when it comes to achieving your goals. And according to Olivia, it was her parents who wanted her to get a degree in the first place. “Both of them didn’t go to college,” she said in the interview. So it was important to them that she did.

“I’m so happy they made me go,” she continued. “That sounds so terrible. They didn’t make me. My sister goes to the same school and we’re pretty much inseparable, so it was nice, like, following her footsteps a little bit. But I do like it. … I feel like I would’ve had weird FOMO not going to college if all my best friends from high school went and were like texting me telling me how it was.”

Of course, that’s also where things took another ironic twist. “It’s, like, the coolest thing getting DMs from girls like, ‘I’m applying to college right now. What’d you do?'” Olivia confessed — but she didn’t go as far as to share whatever advice she gave them. The comments section had it covered, though. As an answer to her fans’ question, one YouTube user offered up this response, “Do your parents have $500,000?”

This isn’t the first time the family’s quotes have come back to haunt them, though. In one of Olivia’s other videos, mom Lori joked about paying for her education. In another, the YouTube star herself was forced to apologize after saying she didn’t care about college. And the whole scam is eerily similar to a plot line that played out on Full House involving Aunt Becky. The situation has gotten so serious that Olivia isn’t planning on returning to USC and has disabled comments on her Instagram and YouTube accounts. But hey — at least she won’t have to worry about balancing work and school anymore, right?
