Jack Osbourne defended his family’s decision to allow an AI version of his late father, Ozzy Osbourne, to be created and said that he had talked to the Black Sabbath legend about the project before he died last year.

“We actually talked about it before he passed, about doing something like this … I know he would be into this,” Jack, 40, said during a May 22 YouTube livestream.

He also took time to reassure those criticizing the project that it wasn’t going to sully Ozzy’s legacy. The “Crazy Train” artist died just weeks after his farewell concert in Birmingham, England, at the age of 76, after enduring years of health struggles.

“Here’s the thing – it’s going to be so tasteful what we’re doing. It’s not going to be f**king lame,” the former reality TV star said in response to several fans’ questions about the AI version of his father.

“It’s really complex what we’re doing. This isn’t just like hooking up an image of my dad to ChatGPT,” Jack continued. “This is some high-level technology that we’re going to be working with and it’s going to feel very real.”

As In Touch previously reported, last week Ozzy’s widow, Sharon Osbourne revealed last week that an AI-powered digital avatar of the “War Pigs” singer was being created and would eventually be able to interact with fans just as he would before his death.

Sharon, 73, appeared at the Licensing Expo 2026, and announced that Ozzy’s family had recently signed a deal with Hyperreal and Proto Hologram to create the avatar.

“You can ask [the digital] Ozzy anything, and he will answer you in his own voice – and the answers will be what Ozzy would have said,” she told the crowd at the convention, per the Daily Mail. “We’re going to take it all around the world. People can talk to him and he will talk back.”

However, several people were upset with the news and took to social media to express their concerns.

“They’re still trying [to] squeeze money out of this man. Let him rest,” one person wrote via X, while another called the project “ghoulish as f**k.”

As of now, no date has been set regarding when the AI version of Ozzy would hit the road.
