Brad Keselowski had an unexpected run-in with Kyle Busch when they were on the same flight just days before the latter died unexpectedly.
“Kyle is normally a fairly gregarious person, very outgoing—and he wasn’t. He sat down one row behind me and next to me and fell asleep right away and I could tell he wasn’t feeling well,” Keselowski, 42, said in an interview with People published on Monday, May 25.
Keselowski noted that he “didn’t really think that much of” Busch’s subdued behavior on the flight. However, it’s since been revealed that Busch died from severe pneumonia after it progressed into sepsis.
As In Touch previously reported, the late NASCAR driver reportedly lost consciousness while in a racing simulator on May 20.

“I’ve got an individual that’s (got) shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out, and is producing a little bit of blood, coughing up some blood,” a caller said in the audio of the 911 call obtained by TMZ.
The following day, Busch’s family announced that he had been hospitalized due to a “severe illness.” No other details were released at the time, but hours later, news broke that Busch had died at just 41 years old.
“We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport’s greatest and fiercest drivers,” NASCAR wrote in a statement shared on social media. “We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.”
He’s survived by his wife, Samantha, and his two children – son Brexton, 11, and daughter Lennix, 4.
