Hayden Panettiere’s Mom Gave Her An Ultimatum in Final Phone Call

Lesley Vogel made Hayden Panettiere choose between her or Brian Hickerson.

The Nashville actress died at 36 years old on Sunday, August 16 in her on-again, off-again boyfriend’s South Carolina home. Just a day before, she was spotted at LAX airport boarding a flight to Greenville with Brian, who she previously shared a tumultuous relationship with that included multiple reported incidents of domestic violence.

Her estranged mother confessed she tried to separate the two before their reunion. While appearing on the Monday episode of Good Morning America, Lesley claimed she told her late daughter they couldn’t have a relationship if she kept in touch with Brian.

Lesley gave the ultimatum during their last phone call after being given the advice by a therapist.

“I needed it. I needed to have that pocket of time,” Lesley said of removing her daughter from her life. “Of course, I thought it was gonna be a pocket of time.

“I did not by any stretch of the imagination think this was gonna happen to Hayden,” Lesley continued. “I don’t know why. I just didn’t. Maybe I didn’t want to.”

Hayden then spent the final months of her life with no contact from her mother.

According to Lesley, the mother-daughter duo were seeing eye-to-eye last year while she was staying with her.

“She knew that Brian was toxic,” Lesley said. “She knew she had to get him out of her life.”

Weeks after Hayden’s admission, she allegedly began to pull away from her mom, leading Lesley to go back to her home in Florida. Not long after she returned, Hayden revealed she was back with Brian.

“When I got the phone call from her saying I’m going to be with the person I love… I just lost it,” Lesley shared. “I could not believe she had gone that far back, that he had been successful in reeling her back in with all the things he had done to her.”
