The beloved 2003 film How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is getting a sequel, with original star Kate Hudson set to return.
The Paramount project is still in the early stages, with an unfinished cast and many key roles not yet filled, according to Variety. The filmmakers and studio intend for Hudson to share the screen with her former co-star, Matthew McConaughey.
The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days sequel follows the current trend of remakes. So far this year, several films from the late 1990s and early 2000s have had their next installment grace the big screen. Some of the most popular films include The Devil Wears Prada 2, Scary Movie, and Toy Story 5. All of these saw success at the box office.
Not much is known about the rom-com sequel as plot details are still being finalized. The 2003 film follows magazine columnist Andie Anderson, attempting to write a story about modern dating when she meets Benjamin Barry. She tries to get him to break up with her for the article, unaware that he bet his boss he could make any woman fall in love. The film has become a classic to many. It earned almost $180 million at the global box office with a reported $50 million budget.

“[With] respect to our now-partners, we do kiss nicely,” Hudson said. “It was always a very nice kiss.”
McConaughey agreed, sharing that their shared sense of humor is the secret. “We enjoy going toe-to-toe,” he said.
