Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent Had the Classiest Response to Derick Dillard’s Hateful Comments

Keeping it classy! Just hours after Jill Duggar's husband, disgraced former reality star Derick Dillard, shared his controversial opinion of TLC stars Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent's family, the couple is clapping back. The Nate & Jeremiah by Design stars each took to social media to respond to Derick's comments where he called the same sex couple's family a "travesty."

"#NateandJbydesign is about showing the many different faces of love and our universal connection through it," Jeremiah simply wrote, while his husband echoed his sentiment. "My hope with having a show like #NateandJbydesign on TLC, where we go into people’s homes and welcome viewers into ours, is that we can start to break down barriers [and] normalize the way our family looks [and] the way our family loves," Nate wrote.

Nate and Jeremiah work together as an interior design team and they both star on their own TLC series Nate & Jeremiah by Design, where they transform homes with their design expertise and also allow viewers into their personal home life. The couple tied the knot in 2014 and they are parents to an adorable three-year-old daughter named Poppy Brent-Berkus. They recently welcomed a second child together, a son named Oskar Michael via a surrogate.

But since their modern family is not a traditional one, unfortunately some people have an issue with it. Derick, who formerly starred on the Duggar family's TLC series Counting On before he was fired for bullying transgender TLC star Jazz Jennings, is one of those people. On Friday, April 27, the fundamentalist Christian took to social media to slam Nate and Jeremiah's family for seemingly no reason other than the fact that their family is a different dynamic. "What a travesty of family," he wrote. "It's sad how blatant the liberal agenda is, such that it both highlights and celebrates a lifestyle so degrading to children on public television as if it should be normal."
