So Jill and Derick Are Reading Their Kids Anti-Socialist Bedtime Stories

It's like they're never going to learn! Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are no strangers to controversy — especially when it comes to the ways they parent their two sons, two-year-old Israel and eight-month-old Samuel. In a new Instagram snap, the Counting On alum showed off what the kids are reading as bedtime stories, and fans were most definitely not pleased with the literature selection. The book series served as a gift from Jill's mother-in-law, Cathy Dillard Byrum, and was definitely enjoyed by the little ones. However, fans in the comments section had a lot of opinions about the material being covered. “The book Atlas basically promotes the idea that being poor is a consequence of laziness and success is solely based on meritocracy,” one user wrote, while another chimed in with, "These books are about 'the evils of socialism' and 'second amendment rights'. These are not for small kids. Heck at least read a good kids' bible story to the kids if you can't handle mainstream kids books."

This comes on the heels of a string of parenting fails by the former TLC stars. In recent months, the couple — who wed in June 2014 — were dragged for leaving baby Samuel on the floor during dinner, using a tortilla as a hat to cover his head, and letting him play with possible choking hazards — like a water bottle with the cap attached. Aside from these questionable decisions, Derick continues to cause outrage by sharing hateful remarks about the LGBT community — especially TLC's I Am Jazz star Jazz Jennings.
