Don’t mess with Demi Moore! A source tells In Touch that the G.I. Jane actress, 63, is in full “mamma bear mode” amid daughter Rumer Willis‘ custody battle with ex Derek Richard Thomas.
“It’s turned very ugly and it’s causing Demi and Rumer so much anxiety,” reveals the source. “Neither of them are sleeping properly. The stakes are just too high.”
As In Touch previously reported, the Dancing With the Stars alum, 37, has accused the 29-year-old musician of “incessant domestic violence” in her fight for full custody of their daughter Louetta, 3.
“Not only is [Demi] feeling like she has to protect Rumer, she’s also got her three-year-old granddaughter to worry about,” says the source. “Rumer has accused Derek of being abusive, so of course Demi doesn’t want him near her family and she’s doing everything possible to keep him away.”

Thomas, however, has “a totally different story,” says In Touch’s source.
“The way he tells it, he’s being railroaded by Rumer and her mother because they have all the money in the world to hire lawyers and they just want him erased from their lives,” says the source. “But he says that isn’t going to happen.”
The singer has submitted a court filing of his own, in which he alleges that “there is no police report, no restraining order, no child welfare referral, no court finding of any kind” to support the allegations made by Willis.
“She’s making stuff up left and right, and it would appear to simply obstruct his relationship with the child and to control it,” Thomas’ attorney, Michael J. Kretzmer, tells In Touch.
Adds the source: “He loves his daughter and just wants to be in her life.”
