Rumer Willis Accuses Ex of ‘Incessant Domestic Violence’ as She Fights for Full Custody of Daughter

Rumer Willis has accused the father of her child of “incessant domestic violence” during their relationship in new court documents.

In legal filings obtained by In Touch, Rumer — the 37-year-old daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, who is currently suffering from frontotemporal dementia — is fighting for full custody of her daughter, Louetta, 3, in which she accuses her ex Derek Richard Thomas of a pattern of abuse.

Rumer claimed she endured a “persistent pattern” of “insane emotional abuse” in their relationship, which spanned from May 2022 to June 2024.

She claimed that the abuse allegedly took place “often in front of the minor child or while they were trapped in the car with him,” the legal documents said.

Rumer is requesting a court in Los Angeles, California, for primary physical custody, revealing that she suffered from “verbal attacks” from Thomas.

“He engaged in ongoing coercive control through prolonged circular verbal attacks that he is unable or unwilling to stop,” Rumer claimed in the court papers, adding he “engages in this type of attack for over six hours at a time on what became a daily basis.”

She described her ex’s behavior as “erratic and chaotic,” noting that it worsened after the birth of their daughter in April 2023.

Rumer added that Thomas was guilty of isolating her away from her friends and family, per the documents. She claimed she was also “constantly” called a liar and a “bad girlfriend.”

“He had paranoid behavior saying that my mother and I were plotting to take Louetta away from him,” Rumer added. “He got very mad at me when I would not let his mother smoke weed in my house when Louetta was a newborn.”

“For a long time, it was difficult for me to stand up to [Thomas] as I tried to avoid his emotional tirades and abuse even for a long time after he moved out,” she added.

Rumer said this behavior and his alleged “drug use” is the reason she “does not want [Thomas] to have overnights or time with Louetta without a 730 child custody evaluation.”

She also added that her family has also suffered from the alleged toxic relationship, claiming Thomas expects her “wealthy family” to pay for “everything” while adding she does not rely on her parents to pay for her expenses.

Moore, 63, also claimed in her own declaration that Thomas exhibited questionable behavior during her home birth, alleging Thomas had “no consideration to Rumer, the baby, the process, or anyone,” and “essentially ruined what should’ve been one of the happiest moments of her life.”

Thomas has since claimed Rumer’s custody request is a result of her being “enraged” by Louetta’s “tremendous affection” for his now-fiancee, Lizzie Loch.

“I have committed no acts of domestic violence in any form, including any act of ‘coercive control.’ [Our] relationship was unhealthy and appropriately came to an end, but it was not at all characterized by any violence, physical or emotional attacks or intimidation on my part,” Thomas said in court documents obtained by In Touch. “The decision to end the relationship between myself and [Rumer] was a mutual decision made in our mutual best interests.”

He also addressed Rumer’s allegations that he is a daily marijuana user: “I have previously used marijuana as legally allowed and at no point did I engage in the use of marijuana to such a degree as to render me unable to fully and properly fulfill my duties and obligations as Louetta’s father.”
