Steve Burton, best known for starring in General Hospital, is continuing to air out tensions in his ongoing custody battle with ex-wife Sheree Burton.

According to a TMZ report published on Wednesday, May 6, the actor and his ex exchanged a series of heated texts in mid-March over a disagreement involving summer plans for their 11-year-old daughter, Brooklyn. The conflict reportedly began after Sheree enrolled Brooklyn in a California-based summer program, which clashed with Burton’s plans to travel with her.

“This is manipulation. You signed an order. So the response should have been hey brook your dad as you a lot in the summer.. But I know your priority is not having her spend time with us,” Steve wrote in a March 14 message, per TMZ.

He went on to argue that “activities do not trump time with family,” adding that Sheree “decided to neglect” the custody agreement they previously had in place.

“And now you get to say dad won’t let you..when you should have said it’s not gonna work. So now you’ll be able to say you made a mistake and we should schedule my weeks,” he allegedly added.

Sheree pushed back, denying his accusation, per the outlet.

“I told you she wanted to do jr guards. You knew this. You are the one who decided to move. Her life is here,” the ex-wife allegedly wrote, referencing Steve’s relocation from California to Tennessee.

“You’re welcome to be here and be a part of it,” she continued. “I told you I’m willing to work with you but she shouldn’t be limited to activities she wants to do because you insist on her being in Tennessee. That’s not right or fair to her. Please just enjoy your weekend with your daughter. I’m done talking about this.”

The back-and-forth didn’t end there. Burton later accused his ex of “never” being “willing to work with anything,” according to the outlet.

“If you were, we never would’ve gone to court in the first place just to see my daughter,” he added.

According to TMZ, Steve’s legal team addressed his move to Tennessee last September, saying the decision was driven by California’s high cost of living and a grueling 20-hour commute each week. His attorneys claimed the situation “created substantial stress that is now taking a toll on his health, and he has recently received a sobering reminder of the need to slow down.”

In addition to Brooklyn, Steve and Sheree also share daughter Makena and son Jack, both of whom are over the age of 18.
