Danica McKellar Admits She ‘Loved’ Eating Her Own Placenta, Says It Tasted Like the ‘Best Filet Mignon’

Danica McKellar has opened up about a very unexpected moment from her childbirth experience – eating her placenta and really enjoying it!

McKellar, 51 spoke about the moment on The Bobby Bones Show  podcast on Tuesday, March 10, looking back on when she became a mother to Draco, now 15, her son with ex-husband Mike Verta.

During the candid chat, McKellar said, per Entertainment Weekly: “I’d just given birth, my doula said, ‘Do you want to taste the placenta?’ And I’m like, sure. You’re not even in your right mind.”

But what happened next surprised her.

“She gave me a piece of it,” McKellar said. “Bobby, it was like the best filet mignon that I have ever tasted. But more.”

The 50-year-old The Wonder Years alum, admitted the experience was so surprising that she almost felt embarrassed about how much she liked it.

“I was embarrassed about how much I loved it,” she said. “It was bizarre. I thought, what is this, some sort of weird satanic… Am I a cannibal?”

While the moment may sound unusual, McKellar joked that it felt strangely natural in the moment. “We are meant to have that,” she added.

McKellar, who starred as Winnie Cooper on the 1980s to 1990s coming-of-age TV series, shares Draco with her ex-husband. She married Verta in 2009 and filed for divorce in 2012.
