Chris Hemsworth Shades Miley Cyrus After Split From His Brother Liam: ‘We Got Him Out of Malibu’

Big brother Thor has his back! Chris Hemsworth seemingly threw shade at his brother Liam Hemsworth’s ex-wife, Miley Cyrus, following their split in an interview on Thursday, April 16.

“He’s out there training and staying fit and back in Australia doing his thing,” the 36-year-old told News.com.au, commenting on his bro’s new and improved physique. With a telling grin and a laugh, he added, “It’s Australian living, I guess. We got him out of Malibu!”

It’s no secret the “Malibu” singer, 27, and the Hunger Games star, 30, resided in the California beach town during their time together. The two parted ways in August 2019 after eight months of marriage.

Following their split, Liam flew across the world to be with his family. He was spotted surfing with his brother in Queensland, Austalia, just three days after announcing their breakup.

For Miley’s part, she escaped on an Italian getaway with Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter where the two were seen flirting and making out. “Liam hit the roof when photos emerged of Kait and Miley hooking up,” an insider told In Touch exclusively at the time. “It was the straw that broke the camel’s back.” After two weeks apart, Liam filed for divorce on August 21.

“Miley is shocked and hurt that Liam filed for divorce so quickly,” another source exclusively told In Touch. “While she’s moved on, she expected him to wait so they could both make the decision together. The bottom line is, Liam has had enough of Miley’s attention-seeking ways and wants out.”

Although Miley’s fling with the Hills alum only lasted a month, she moved on to current boyfriend Cody Simpson. “Miley and Cody are old friends. Right now she needs someone she can trust and rely on and Cody is that guy, he gets her,” a third insider shared in October 2019. “He’s super sweet, tall and Australian — just like her ex Liam. So there’s that!”

As for Liam, he has been linked to model Gabriella Brooks. In December 2019, a source told In Touch Liam’s parents already approve of his new love interest. “Craig and Leonie adore Gabriella and think she’s a much better fit for their son than Miley, who they never warmed to,” the insider explained. “They didn’t approve of Miley’s attention-seeking ways or the way she treated their son. Not only is Gabriella drop-dead gorgeous and a successful model, she’s fun, intelligent and sweet-natured — you can tell she isn’t after Liam for his fame and fortune and adores him for all the right reasons.”
