Cardi B Blames ‘Lipo’ for Not ‘Shining’ on a Stripper Pole While Filming ‘Hustlers’
She’s been very open about her past as a stripper, but you won’t see Cardi B working a pole in the new movie Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Constance Wu and Lili Reinhart. The artist revealed that plastic surgery kept her from “shining” and showing off her signature moves on set. While fans are stoked to see her on the big screen, she’s actually pretty bummed about not being able to put her skills on display.
“You know what? I was really mad because let me tell you something — when I did the movie, I just got my titties done and I got lipo, right?” the 26-year-old divulged to Entertainment Tonight on August 25 during the film’s premiere in Los Angeles. “So I was like, ‘This is my moment to shine, and I can’t shine because I can’t climb!’ So I was mad. I was like, ‘God damn it!’”
The “Money” rapper opened up publicly during a concert in May about going under the knife and has been pretty candid about the struggles she’s gone through while recovering from liposuction — including having to cancel shows.
“I want to explain to people how hard it is to process,” she told ET during the launch of her Fashion Nova line on May 8. “I feel like people look at girls on Instagram and go, ‘Oh, they got their lipo done and it was so easy.’ It is just such a long, hard process, almost like the same process as after you give birth to a baby and you see your body change and snapping it back.”
It’s not entirely surprising that the Bronx native decided to have plastic surgery. She talked about wanting lipo during an Instagram Live in August 2018. “I still got, like, a lot of love handles right here. They’re not much, but it’s, like, you know, I’m used to having, like, a real tight stomach. So this extra skin is like, ‘Where the f–k did you came from?!’” she confessed at the time. “But it’s like, I might just get a little lipo. Because I mean, I feel like I can work out and my stomach will be back how it used to be. But I really don’t have time to work out. I never been the type to work out. I never stepped a foot in the gym,” she added.
