A source says Britney Spears is “promising to do whatever it takes” to win back the “trust and respect” of sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, after she was arrested in Ventura County, California on Wednesday, March 4, for allegedly driving under the influence.
“She wants to set a good example for them,” shares the source. “She swears she’d never get behind the wheel if she thought she was over the limit but clearly, she made a mistake.”
A representative for Spears, 44, called her arrest “completely inexcusable” in a statement to In Touch, adding that the Princess of Pop “is going to take the right steps and comply with the law.”

That may not be enough, though.
“One thing that’s very evident to everyone is that she needs to clean house,” the source reveals. “There are a lot of very toxic influences that have crept into her circle and if she wants to prove she’s ready to do better, she’s going to need to cut them all off.”
There’s reason to hope Spears will, adds the source. “Right now, she’s saying she’s willing to do whatever it takes to prove she can get herself back on track.”
According to TMZ, the “Circus” singer — who has a court date scheduled for Monday, May 4 — is even open to a treatment and support plan, which could include mental health services and detox.
Says the source, “Britney is incredibly embarrassed about what’s happened.”
