It’s official. Britney Spears has been appointed a temporary new conservator after her father, Jamie Spears, requested to relinquish his longtime powers of conservatorship for the time being due to “personal health” reasons. Now, a temporary order has been put in place, removing Jamie and approving her care manager Jodi Montgomery.

Jodi will be taking over Jamie’s responsibilities until January 20, 2020, according to the court documents obtained by In Touch. This means that Jodi will be able to get security guards for Britney, 37, as well as caretakers, and she also has the “power to prosecute civil harassment restraining orders that [she] deems appropriate.”

The pop star’s new conservator will even be able to communicate about her personal medical treatment, diagnosis and testing. On top of that, Jodi will get all access to Britney’s psychiatric treatment and care.

As we previously reported, Britney’s father planned to petition to step down on Monday, September 9, and his lawyer provided the necessary paperwork to the court on Thursday, September 5 to get the process started. “James P. Spears will petition to the court ex parte for an order appointing Jodi Montgomery as Temporary Conservator of the Person beginning September 9, 2019, until January 20, 2020 or further court order,” his lawyer wrote in an email included in the paperwork.

In an unrelated incident, Jamie also recently made headlines for his heated dispute with Britney’s teenage son, Sean. “[Kevin Federline] alleged the grandfather battered one of the sons on August 24, I believe the 13-year old,” Sergeant Marta Bugarin, spokeswoman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, told Radar Online on Tuesday, September 3.

We’ll have to see if incident affects Britney’s custody agreement with her ex down the line. Britney and Kevin recently formalized their arrangement, stating that he gets the kids 70 percent of the time, while Britney gets unsupervised custodial rights 30 percent of the time.
