90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise stars Carlos Jiménez and De Juan VaLentine fell in love over the internet during a global pandemic — but it would be almost two years before the couple would ever meet in person. On top of the distance, Carlos and VaLentine also faced several obstacles in their relationship. But are Carlos and VaLentine still together now? How Did ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Carlos and VaLentine Meet?

Carlos and VaLentine met over social media. After developing an online relationship for more than a year and a half, VaLentine planned to travel from his home in Los Angeles to Carlos’ native of Barranquilla, Colombia, to meet his boyfriend for the first time.

While the couple found sparks, they also found major cultural and lifestyle differences. VaLentine was polyamorous, meaning that he could carry on romantic relationships with multiple people at the same time. VaLentine was also more comfortable in his sexuality, as Carlos hadn’t come out to his conservative family in Colombia. 

“This is a big deal for me because I’m planning to tell my sister that I’m homosexual,” he said during a July 2022 episode. “I have never talked about my sexual preference with members of my family.”

Following the deaths of his mother and grandmother, the South American native wanted to show the last remaining person he had in his life, his full self. 

“The main point here is 100 percent to be honest and what best way to show myself as I am than with my boyfriend,” he continued. After Carlos’ sister showed the couple her support, Carlos and De Juan got engaged during the season 2 finale of 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise. 

VaLentine and Carlos returned for season 3 of 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise in April 2023. While the pair were in the process of planning their nuptials, it would be a drama-filled process as VaLentine confronted Carlos about his alleged “emotional cheating” with another woman. 

Carlos admitted that he had romantic feelings for his friend Michele during the May 14 episode. However, he said that she didn’t like him back and he wanted to continue being her friend because they never had sex.

“You want to ignore the emotional cheating and just focus on the fact that you didn’t physically f–k,” VaLentine said. “You were fully engaged, right? You liked her. But it didn’t move forward because she wouldn’t allow it to. If she liked you back it would have went further. It did not move forward because of me, your feelings for me, you see what I’m saying? You weren’t ready to choose me, you were gonna choose her, she just didn’t choose you back.”

The pair continued to face conflict when Carlos revealed he invited Michele to their wedding.

Are ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Carlos and VaLentine Still Together?

Shortly after the Discovery+ season finale in August 2022, Carlos confirmed that the couple was still happily engaged as he posted photos from the romantic night. 

“And I said YES!! There are not enough words to say all this emotions [sic],” the Colombia native shared via Instagram in a since-deleted post. “Today I can proudly say that I’m the happiest gay in this whole world. I’m so lucky to have such a man by my side. Thank you very much VaLentine for making me the happiest GAY on earth. It feels so good to be able to be who you really are.”

Despite dropping clues that they were still together, Carlos and VaLentine called it quits a week ahead of their wedding. During the May 22 episode, the couple fought over Carlos’ relationship with his friend Michelle, who he admitted to having feelings for, and things escalated from there. While VaLentine made it clear that he didn’t want Michelle invited to the wedding, Carlos responded, “I don’t think I want to be part of somebody who doesn’t care about other person’s feelings and I’m talking about me. Because this is hurting me.”

VaLentine proceeded to tell him that their fight marked “the end” of the relationship before walking out and starting his trek back to the United States. “There’s really nothing else to talk about,” he said. 

“VaLentine was my best friend,” Carlos went on to say in a confessional. “But I also feel that he betrayed that trust, that friendship that we had. It’s not what I expect from him, because I’m being honest and open to him as I’ve been always. … I don’t see any future with VaLentine, honestly.”

Following the airing of the scene, Carlos took to Instagram to confirm his split from the California native. 

“It’s official! The break up and I’m glad I can finally express myself regarding this,” Carlos wrote as he began a Q&A session with viewers.

When asked if he and Michelle were still friends, he replied, “Yes!” along with attaching a video of the pair enjoying a night out.
