New Teeth! Inside ‘90 Day Fiance’ Star Angela Deem’s Dental Journey and Makeover: See Before-and-After Photos

New smile! 90 Day Fiancé star Angela Deem has upgraded her life in more ways than one. Following her plastic surgery and weight loss journey, the Hazlehurst, Georgia, native unveiled plans for a total teeth makeover. 

The TLC personality started her transformation on an April 2022 episode of 90 Day Diaries as she traveled to a dental office in Beverly Hills to take care of what she called one of her “main insecurities.” After raising her confidence by losing a “life-changing” 110 pounds, Angela decided she wanted the smile to match.

“When I was 18, I had an accident where two of my teeth got knocked out. And as the years progressed, I took to smoking,” the 55-year-old explained of her dental history. “You know, menopause coming on. My teeth started breaking.” Adding that her teeth were falling out due to the deterioration of her gums, Angela ideally hoped for new dental implants. 

“When I first saw Angela’s mouth, I was extremely concerned by not just the lack of teeth, the lack of posterior support but also the amount of infection,” her dentist, Dr. Asaro, told producers. “I just remember thinking, ‘How is this woman not in severe pain?’” While the doctor is confident to deliver Angela the results she wants, he noted it’s going to take “a lot of hard work” and a “little bit of luck from the dental gods.” 

The 90 Day Fiancé alum was given three options and her transformation would come with a hefty price tag. Opting for a combination of dental implants and dentures that also include major bone augmentation, the costs could total over $25,000 — something that wouldn’t sit well with her long-distance love, Michael llesanmi.

Already having major confrontations in the past over Angela’s decision to go under the knife for weight loss surgery, the Nigerian native felt that the Pillow Talk star did not need surgery to lose weight and that instead, the money should be going toward in-vitro fertilization so they could have a child together.

Despite her husband’s wishes, Angela underwent five surgeries in one day in August 2020, including a gastric sleeve procedure, liposuction, and a breast reduction. Angela debuted her new look at the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 6 tell-all which caused one of the couple’s biggest blow-ups to date. 

In May 2022, the TLC personality returned to the spinoff to update viewers on dental transformation. While Angela hesitated in telling her husband about the procedure, she told him and reported he “thankfully has been more supportive this time.” 

For the dental surgery, her dentist detailed the extensive process could take anywhere from four to six hours. “The first thing that we need to do is remove all of her teeth and remove all of the infection. So, we will be removing six teeth from her upper jaw and seven teeth from her lower jaw,” he continued. “Some of the areas in her upper jaw, the bone has been completely obliterated. So, we’ve prepared everything, so that we can now place the dental implants.”

Following her surgery, the doctor warned Angela that being a smoker made her “high risk” and would affect her results if she returned to the habit. Angela made plans with her dentist to return to California in a few months to correct her looming dental issues, but it’s clear she’s isn’t sticking to the doctor’s orders. 

“I did promise I wouldn’t smoke, but I did,” she later confessed in a solo confessional. “But I did cut back a lot, and I mean, a lot … for me.”
