Liam and Kate first sparked romance rumors in October 2022 when they were spotted attending a Halloween party together. The pair was seen arriving at the restaurant Inca London dressed up as Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson. Kate went on to share photos from the evening via her Instagram Stories, while she also posted photos from a trip to Rome that featured Liam in November 2022.
They made their red carpet debut as a couple while attending the British Fashion Awards together in London in December 2022. Liam died after he fell off the fourth floor balcony of a hotel in Argentina on October 16, 2024, CNN confirmed via police in Argentina.
The incident took place at CasaSur Palermo Hotel, and it has not been revealed if the fall was intentional or an accident. Witnesses claimed that Liam was acting “erratic” in the hotel’s lobby earlier in the day, according to TMZ. The outlet also reported that he “smashed his laptop and had to be carried back to his room.”
Shortly before he died, Liam shared a photo of him and Kate posing for a mirror selfie via Snapchat, which has since been shared via X. She wore a black bikini top and a skirt cover up, while he subtly smiled for the camera as he matched in black swimsuit bottoms. It’s not clear exactly when the photo was taken.
Kate Cassidy Breaks Silence on Liam Payne’s Death
Three days after Liam died, Kate broke her silence by issuing a statement via her Instagram Stories.
“Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way,” she wrote in a text post. “I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.”
Kate concluded the post by addressing her late boyfriend. “Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely,” she wrote. “I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.”
