Paul shared details about the start of his career during a season 10 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2020.

“I got a job as a real estate broker for a firm that had very posh clients so he wanted me to go to elocution lessons,” he explained to viewers. “I had a natural flair for identifying buildings with value. I had an instinct on it and that instinct came through very, very early.”

PK grew his original real estate empire to be worth $2 million before losing a bulk of his net worth during the recession, according to Bravo TV. “At its peak, we had a good run and then the world flipped upside down and it’s not commonly known as the credit crunch,” PK added. “It was a financial tsunami… Financially, when I met Dorit, I was a little better off than broke.”

Seven months later, Dorit and Paul officially announced their split in a detailed joint statement shared on social media.

“We as a couple have been subject to a lot of speculation about our marriage. We have had our struggles over the last few years and continue to work through them as two people who love each other and share two amazing children together,” the couple wrote on May 9, 2024. “To safeguard our deep friendship and maintain a harmonious environment for our children we have made the mutual and difficult decision to take some time apart and reevaluate our relationship while we prioritize our children.”

Dorit became a viral meme when she lit a cigarette during the premiere after news broke that she and PK had separated. Viewers, who were already in the know about their decision, were able to see what went down behind the scenes of their joint statement.

Paul made a few cameos throughout the season when he and Dorit would have sit downs, and the love they once had was lost. Dorit’s costars Erika Jayne, Kathy Hilton and Bozoma “Boz” Saint John rallied around her and urged her to file for a divorce to make sure that she comes out of the end of their marriage afloat.

Paul did not appear on the RHOBH season 14 reunion, despite his participation in past years. However, he sent in a statement that rubbed Dorit the wrong way.

“I was invited to be part of the reunion, but declined because I don’t believe engaging with Dorit in this forum would be constructive,” he wrote. “Dorit has made several mischaracterizations about me, but the one I must address is the claim that I am a bad father. That statement is both heartbreaking and false. It is deeply hurtful to me and more importantly, to our children, who, despite Dorit’s assertion, will inevitably see and hear all of this at a time not of our choosing.”

He continued, “Those closest to us know the truth. Many have wanted to speak out, but I have asked them not to because the truth should never need a champion. I refused to stoke a fire I did not ignite. The Dorit I married would never have allowed this, much less caused it. That woman embodied kindness, integrity, and grace. I can only hope this version of Dorit finds her way back to the person she once was.”

Dorit reacted mostly to Paul’s comments about being a different “version” of the woman she married and told Andy, “Listen, if I haven’t changed in 14 years, then something’s wrong with me.”
