Love Island USA viewers often compare islanders to their social media before entering the villa. Some believe Parmida Keshani put on a fake accent while on the show since she sounded different in her videos. Keshani, 27, addressed this accusation in a new interview.

“I moved to the U.S. when I was in high school. I grew up speaking Farsi, learning everything in Farsi: math, anatomy, everything in Farsi, right?” she told Entertainment Tonight. The personal trainer said her English is good, but it’s harder for her to speak in bigger groups.

“So I do tend to talk a little bit slower out of just being nervous,” she said. Keshani said the English words don’t come into her head as fast. She said that she does talk when she’s mad, when she’s not filming. The dumped islander challenged critics to learn another language and, after nine years, film confronting people.

Keshani clashed with the women in the villa when Corbin Mims brought her back from Casa Amor. The women booed him for talking negatively about Kenzie Annis during the heart rate challenge with the new women.

“I feel confident,” Keshani told the villa women. She defended Mims, saying he never disrespected them around her and blamed his comments on being a man.

What’s going on with the pair after the villa? Keshani and Mims aren’t in a committed relationship, but plan to continue to get to know each other. They interacted on social media before the season, but it didn’t go beyond messages. She returned to Instagram on July 11 and posted a message about her experience.

“I built incredible friendships, stayed true to myself every step of the way, and found a connection that felt so genuine and so real,” read part of the caption. “One that only we truly understand. There’s so much more to us than what made it to your screens, and I can’t wait for you all to see that.” She finished the post saying she wants to continue showing America her connection with Mims behind closed doors.
