Tom Cruise Is ‘Frustrated’ and Lonely, Hopes to Get Married Again: ‘He Wants to Be in Love’

Tom Cruise remains one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but according to a new report, insiders say his romantic life hasn’t gone as smoothly as his career.

The Daily Mail reported on Sunday, August 23, that the actor, reportedly single, wants to marry again. “Tom is frustrated that his love life has not been smooth because often he is lonely,” a source close to Cruise told the outlet.

The insider stressed that the Mission: Impossible star, 64, is not rushing into another relationship but said he still hopes to find a long-term partner: “But I do know that Tom would love to get married again and have it last, he wants a solid relationship. Like anyone, he wants to be in love.”

The news that Cruise is hoping for a long-term commitment comes as several women once linked to him have since moved on happily with their own lives.

His second ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, has been making headlines in her personal life following the end of her marriage to country star Keith Urban. Cruise and Kidman — who share Isabella, 33, and Conor, 31— divorced in 2001 after 11 years of marriage.

Cruise met Penélope Cruz in 2000 on the set of Vanilla Sky, while he was still married to Kidman. By the time filming wrapped, his divorce from Kidman was already underway, and the two began dating publicly in July 2001, about six months after he filed.

Their relationship lasted nearly three years before ending amicably in early 2004, with both sides’ representatives denying any third party was involved, according to People.

“He was really in love with her and wanted to marry her and have children together,” the source told The Daily Mail. Cruz, 52, went on to marry actor Javier Bardem in 2010. The couple shares two children together, son Leo and daughter Luna.

“She left him because he was just too famous, they couldn’t have a normal life. She dumped him and he was heartbroken. She was the one who got away,” the source added of Cruz.

Cruise’s former wife, Katie Holmes, with whom he shares their daughter, Suri, has also moved on romantically, recently being linked to artist Jason Bard Yarmosky. The Dawson’s Creek star filed for divorce from Cruise in 2012 after six years of marriage, ending their highly publicized “TomKat” era.

“What happened with Katie Holmes, that was a public humiliation,” the source told the Daily Mail. “I think it is hard for him to see her move on, but the truth is no one really knows, he doesn’t like talking about Katie. Everyone in his circle knows to not bring up her name.”

The insider also claimed to the outlet that Cruise has struggled with daughter Suri’s decision to stop using his last name publicly: “It’s crushing.”

More recently, Ana de Armas, rumored to have dated Cruise after a string of outings beginning in 2025, was photographed with musician Beto Montenegro.

As In Touch previously reported, neither de Armas nor Cruise ever publicly confirmed they were a couple, but their multiple public outings led fans to believe the relationship was romantic.

According to the Daily Mail report, Cruise’s demanding career remains a major factor in his personal life, with the actor continuing to put filmmaking first.
