Steven Avery Talks to ‘In Touch’ From Behind Bars: “I’m 1000% Confident I Will Be Free” — Hear The Audio
In this week’s issue of In Touch, Making a Murderer’s Steven Avery opens up in a bombshell interview from behind bars and talks about his life in prison for the grisly 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach — a crime he still swears he didn’t commit.
“I’m going to be free,” Steven, 54, reveals in an exclusive phone interview from Waupun Correctional Institution. “I’m 1,000 percent confident that I’ll be free.”
As Steven waits for his new attorney, Kathleen Zellner, to file his appeal (planned for Aug. 29), he opens up about why he is so confident.
“Kathleen Zellner is the best. I don’t think there’s a lawyer in Wisconsin that could top her, and her record shows it,” Steven says. “I know Kathleen will get down to the truth. I’m not going to lose.”

Steven believes that once the truth comes out, Teresa’s family will regret what they said about him.
“I feel sorry for them, for what they had to go through,” he adds.
Although Steven admits he has never seen the original Netflix series (only read transcripts sent to him from a woman out of the country), he has his own plans for TV following his release from prison.
"I like Big Brother,” he explains, and says he would even consider appearing on the show.

“Yes, I would go on it!” he claims. “But if I won, I wouldn’t need the money, so I’d have to donate it.”
