Sister Wives star Kody Brown walked back his past comments about not loving his three ex-wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown.
In a teaser clip for the Sunday, April 27, episode shared by Parade, Robyn Brown brought up how unhappy Kody, 56, had been since he ended his spiritual marriages to Meri, 54, Christine, 53, and Janelle, 55.
“I think the biggest thing is whether or not you’re able to process through it enough that you can be yourself again, because you’ve been very, very angry, and I understand this,” Robyn, 46, told her husband.
He admitted to his changing attitude by responding, “And I apologize, and I understand that I’ve been in a bad place. I’m sorry to you. I’m sorry to them.”
Kody continued to reflect on his past splits in a confessional, noting that the situations had a negative impact on him.
“Plural marriage is hard. I thought from my myopic perspective it was just hard on me, but I failed to recognize what a struggle this would be for my wives,” he said. “I’m trying to move on, but I’m kind of arrogant and cocky about how I do it in order to fight the emotions. Like all that s–t I said about not loving my wives and stuff, my exes, was just like me trying to dial in how I felt about it.”
The father of 18 continued, “I was bulls–tting myself. I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m not affected by this. Those mean women, they’re gone. I never loved them anyway.’ I mean, this is really the crap I was spewing because that was [the] only defense I had. Divorce just does that to you.”
Fans previously watched Kody’s spiritual marriages crumble, which were all documented on the reality show. Christine was the first wife to leave him in November 2021, while In Touch exclusively revealed that Janelle ended their spiritual marriage in December 2022. One month later, Meri and Kody confirmed their split by issuing a joint statement in January 2023.
Following all of the splits, Kody had been open about the hostile feelings he had towards his exes.
During a September 2024 episode, Kody insisted he wasn’t in love with Meri, Janelle or Christine during their marriages. “Christine, Janelle and Meri all chose to have me leave the home,” he said at the time. “Now, I’m not playing the victim card, I’m just saying it’s just the way that it was. I wasn’t ever going to leave them, no matter how much I didn’t love them.”

Earlier in the episode, Kody reacted to Meri’s decision to go to the church to be formally released from their marriage. After they went through with the process, Kody said that their marriage lacked “a lot of wisdom.”
“I didn’t know who she was when we got married. She was very different,” the Brown patriarch said in a confessional. “I think just there’s some baggage that Meri had that I didn’t know about initially. I felt like I could live with it … I can’t live in a world where she is constantly angry at me.”
Kody also made it clear that he didn’t agree with Meri’s decision to go to the church, stating that “the damage was done” and he didn’t want to be held “accountable to this church and all their BS.”
